National Instruments PXI-8115 RT Controller

The NI PXI-8115 RT (Part Numbers: 781862-33 and 781860-33) is an Embedded Controller manufactured by National Instruments, which performs around 48% higher than the PXI-8108. Typical I/O features are available on this small, durable controller. This controller comes equipped with a dual-core Intel Core i5-2510E processor, Windows 7 Professional, a serial port, an integrated hard drive, six hi-speed USB ports, and two 10/100/1000BASE-TX Ethernet ports. The National Instruments PXI-8115 RT is designed for data acquisition, modular instrumentation, and processor-intensive applications.  

The PXI-8115 RT Embedded Controller has an SMB connector on the front panel which can link to or from any PXI backplane trigger line. A trigger allocation process is necessary to stop two resources from linking to an equivalent trigger line. This would end with the trigger being double-driven and potentially harming the hardware. However, this software is not currently offered for Windows.

Another feature on the National Instruments PXI-8115 RT is the capability to upgrade the installed RAM. The user can modify the installed RAM volume by upgrading the SO-DIMM. The SO-DIMM options include: 2 GB, 256 MB x 64, 4 GB, 512 MB x 64, or 8 GB, 1024 MB x 64 (1.18 inches maximum for each). There are also two ways to reestablish the original factory settings of the hard drive on the PXI-8115 RT Controller. A factory backup is saved on the hard drive, permitting the user to reestablish the original settings without further tools. The second method is to use the OS Recovery CD, which will reinstall the operating system onto the hard drive.
