National Instruments PCI-6120 Multifunction I/O Device

The PCI-6120 is a Multifunction I/O Device developed by National Instruments. The part number of the PCI-6120 is 778397-01. The PCI-6120 is used for data acquisition and can synchronize analog input, output, and digital channels. This feature is useful for stimulus/response applications. The PCI-6120 is a full-length module. Therefore, it is compatible with only specific chassis. The compatible chassis slot must accommodate full-length modules.

The PCI-6120 Multifunction I/O Device has four analog input channels. The input channel resolution is 16 bits. The input channels support simultaneous sampling. The maximum sampling rate of the PCI-6120 is 800 kS/sec.  The input channels are the AC/DC coupled type. The input channels can bear an overvoltage of 42 V without damaging the device. This device also has a FIFO buffer. The memory of the buffer is 32 MS.

The PCI-6120 device also features a 5-pole Bessel filter. This filter is optional and can be enabled through software. The frequency of the Bessel filter is 100 kHz. This device has two 16-bit analog output channels. The voltage range of the output channels is +10V. The output channels have protection against short-circuiting to ground.

The PCI-6120 Multifunction I/O Device also has eight digital lines. These lines are programmable. At start-up, these channels are set as input channels. The buffer size of the digital I/O channels is 2,048 bits. The transfer rate of the PCI-6120 device’s digital channels is 10 Mwords/s. These digital channels are compatible with TTL/CMOS.

The PCI-6120 device has two counters/timers. The frequency of the counters is 24 bits. The base clocks of 20 MHz and 100 kHz are available in this device. For interfaces, the PCI-6120 device has a 68-pin connector.
