National Instruments SCC-SG03 Strain Gage Module

The SCC-SG03 (Part Number: 777459-15) is a Strain Gage Module from National Instruments. This module features an integrated excitation source on each of its two differential input channels. In addition, a lowpass filter is provided for each input channel. The excitation source incorporated in this Strain Gage Module offers up to 60 mA excitation current drive and 13 mV/°C excitation drift.  

This module can be used in a broad range of measurement applications. You can achieve direct conversion of voltage signals into appropriate strain signals on a real-time basis by using a compatible software program. Another way of converting voltage signals into strain units is by using the strain equations provided in the user manual for this device. This Strain Gage Module can generate output signals over a voltage range of -10 V to + 10 V. The National Instruments SCC-SG03 module offers integrated overvoltage protection. In addition, a 1.6 kHz lowpass filter is incorporated on each channel of this module to prevent its measurements from getting degraded from electrical noise.

The NI SCC-SG03 offers a half-bridge configuration you can use with active strain gages. For the completion of bridge configuration, a half-bridge configuration reference is provided inside this Strain Gage Module. You can achieve two half-bridge configurations with the SCC-SG03. The type I measures either bending or axial strain. The type II configuration can be used in measuring bending strain only. In type II configuration, an additional temperature-compensating element is required.

SCC-SG03 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
