National Instruments SCXI-1112 Thermocouple Input Module

The NI SCXI-1112 (Part Number: 776572-12) is a Direct-Connect Thermocouple Amplifier Module. This module is featured with 8 channels and is designed to amplify and filter signals generated from a thermocouple. On each of its eight channels, there is a 3-pole lowpass filter featured with a 2 Hz cutoff frequency capable of rejecting 60 Hz noise. In the NI SCXI-1112, each channel also has an amplifier with 100 fixed gain. With this module, the user can multiplex the inputs of the SCXI-1112 to a single output, driving a single DAQ device channel.

This module comes with an onboard voltage reference. Thus, the user can have it calibrated and auto-zeroed easily. The same auto-zeroing mechanism or circuitry can also be used for the removal of offset voltages. The NI SCXI-1112 is created for use with National Instruments MIO devices from the E series or with the SCXI-1200 modules. Several NI SCXI-1112 modules can also be multiplexed into a single channel, significantly increasing the number of analog inputs.

The SCXI-1112 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software driver which can be programmed using application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, ComponentWorks, or VirtualBench. Using any of the above ADEs greatly speeds up the development time.

The NI SCXI-1112 comes with an input signal range of ±100 mV. In normal powered on mode, the amplifier operates with an input impedance of >1 GΩ. However, in overload or powered off states the input impedance remains around 10 kΩ. This module has 2 Hz bandwidth. This module comes with a 96-pin male DIN C connector on its front panel and a 50-pin male ribbon cable connector is provided on the rear panel. The SCXI-1112 module requires 15 mA max power to operate normally.

The NI device measures 4.54 x 10.75 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 to 50 °C and –55 to 150 °C respectively, and a non-condensing relative humidity relative range of 5 to 90%.

SCXI-1112 End of Life Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.

The SCXI-1112 is available to be calibrated. While the recommended calibration period for individual parts varies, most parts should be calibrated either annually or every two years to ensure accuracy. If you need the SCXI-1112 calibrated, Apex Waves provides options. We offer high-quality NIST accredited calibrations through a 3rd party, with an average turnaround time of 1 to 2 weeks. When you order the SCXI-1112 with us, you can request basic (unaccredited) in-house calibration that will calibrate the part to the manufacturer specifications prior to being shipped. Call or email us today for more information about calibrating the SCXI-1112!
