National Instruments SCXI-1350 Multichassis Adapter

The NI SCXI-1350 (Part Number: 776575-50) requires an SCXI chassis, SCXI modules, a data acquisition board, cables, a computer, and a small flathead screwdriver to use the Adapter. This Multichassis Adapter allows the user to link a multichassis system to a data acquisition board. The following modules can be used with the SCXI 1350: the SCXI-1163, SCXI-1100, SCXI-1162, SCXI-1120, SCXI-1161, SCXI-1140, SCXI-1160, and SCXI-1121. In addition, the SCXI-1181 Breadboard Module and the SCXI-1180 Feedthrough Panel can be linked to any data acquisition board via a 50-pin or 100-pin ribbon cable.

This Multichassis Adapter has a male back connector, a female module connector, and a male chassis extender connector. The user can utilize a ribbon cable to link the back connector to the data acquisition board or a previous chassis. The module connector inserts into the back signal connector of an SCXI module, while another ribbon cable links the chassis connector to the Multichassis Adapter in the following chassis.

One example of the connections the NI SCXI-1350 is capable of includes linking a three-chassis system with an AT-MIO-16 data acquisition board. For this type of linking, three NBI cables and three National Instruments SCXI 1350 Multichassis Adapters are necessary. The user should keep in mind that if they are cabling a system with a DIO data acquisition board, then the DIO board will control all the chassis. However, several of the spare DIO lines will be jumbled.  When the user is cabling a system with an MIO data acquisition board, the Multichassis Adapters link analog channel 0 of the MIO board to the analog output of the initial chassis. Analog channel 1 of the MIO board is linked to the analog output of the second chassis, and so on.

SCXI-1350 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Multichassis Adapter will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
