National Instruments SCXI-1379 Terminal Block

The NI SCXI-1379 (Part Number: 778732-01) has the capability to configure the SCXI-1130 Switch Module as an 8x32, 1-wire matrix. With the use of software, the user can control the matrix to link to any row(s) to any column(s). When the SCXI-1130 module is configured as a matrix, it turns into a general-purpose signal router. The SCXI 1379 Terminal Block installs on the front of the SCXI-1130 module; the Terminal Block utilizes screw terminals to link signals and the trigger input and trigger output signals to the switch module. The NI SCXI-1379 can work with National Instruments matrix expansion plugs for instantaneous row expansion through column linking. This does not necessitate external wiring.

The National Instruments SCXI-1379 Terminal Block requires several items to be used. These items include: a matrix expansion plug, a matrix expansion cable, an SCXI chassis, an SCXI-1130 module, a wire insulation stripper, a wire cutter, a Philips screwdriver, and a 1/8 inch flathead screwdriver. In addition, National Instruments suggests utilizing 28 AWG wire, either ribbon or discrete, for linking signals with the SCXI 1379.

There are designated column screw terminals, row screw terminals, and expansion connectors on the NI SCXI-1379. Leads can be screwed into the screw terminals as necessary to link signals to the SCXI-1130 module. The user must make sure that the leads are correctly strengthened by the strain relief bar prior to putting the Terminal Block cover in place. When linking signals to the Terminal Block, the user can refer to the table in the manual for specific instructions and diagrams showing the topology.
