National Instruments ENET-232/4 Ethernet Interface

The ENET-232/4 is a 4-port Ethernet Interface for Recommended Standard 232 (RS232), which is used for serial data exchange between peripheral devices and computers and has 10/100 base-T Ethernet input. The NI ENET-232/4 can be interfaced to systems using standard Ethernet networks. Additional serial ports can be programmed and accessible similarly as the native ports on a system. This Ethernet Interface has two versions. Part number 778064-04 has a US 120 VAC power input and part number 778064-54 has a N. America 240 V power input.

The NI ENET-232/4 can connect 100 MB/s or 10 MB/s Ethernet networks to asynchronous serial ports. Thus, Ethernet networks can communicate with the serial devices using the ENET-232/4. This National Instruments Ethernet Interface typically consumes 6.5 W or a maximum of 9 W. It comes with hard plastic with metal base plate having weight 394g. This interface requires 2 MB of space for National Instruments Serial Server Software.

For transferring data, the ENET-232/4 uses an RJ-45 Ethernet connector and a DB-9 Serial connector with a 230.4 Kbits/s maximum serial transfer rate. To operate the ENET-232/4, you need NI-SDS (Windows) and NI-VISA driver software. These software platforms have a wide range of library functions which anybody can call from the programming environment applications. The ENET-232/4 is compatible with different operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
