National Instruments ENET-485/2 Ethernet Interface for RS485

The NI ENET-485/2 is an Ethernet Interface for RS485. The manufacturer of the ENET-485/2 is National Instruments. This interface has different power options. The ENET-485/2 is available under part numbers 778065-02 (US 120 VAC), 778065-22 (Swiss 220 VAC), 778065-32 (Australian 240 VAC), 778065-42 (Universal Euro 240 VAC), 778065-52 (N. American 240 VAC), and 778065-62 (UK 240 VAC). This Ethernet Interface is designed to communicate with serial devices. The NI ENET-485/2 can create an interface between synchronous ports of serial devices and standard Ethernet networks. This interface can easily be installed on Windows XP/2000/NT. The ENET-485/2 can be accessed by using different application programs by using standard serial I/O functions.  

This Ethernet Interface is a 2-port device. The NI ENET-485/2 can transfer data up to 460.8 kb/sec. The ENET-485/2 comes with an RJ-45 connector. Moreover, DB-9 connectors are also available with the interface. Each port of this Ethernet Interface can be connected with up to 31 devices simultaneously. The maximum distance at which the ENET-485/2 can transfer data over a cable is 1.2 km. The NI ENET-485/2 is designed to be protected against Electrostatic discharge up to ±4 kV. The interface can also be used with an external 12 VDC power supply.

This Ethernet Interface is reliable for communicating with 2-wired as well as 4-wired devices. The NI ENET-485/2 can communicate with other devices using four different types of transceiver control modes. Another important feature of the interface is reduced susceptibility. This feature decreases latency. FIFO buffers are installed in this Ethernet Interface for this special function.
