National Instruments PCI-FBUS Fieldbus Interface Device

The NI PCI-FBUS (Part Number: 778573-01) is a 1-Port, PCI based Fieldbus Interface Device. This device offers swift connectivity between FOUNDATION Fieldbus devices to industrial PCs or standard desktops. The PCI-FBUS connects to H1 networks and operates as a Basic Device or Link Master. H1 is a communication protocol that allows data transmission at 31.25 Kb/s using this interface; a PCI bus enabled computer can be utilized as the host in any FOUNDATION Fieldbus system.  This Fieldbus Interface Device comes with plug-and-play capabilities, so it can easily be inserted into an empty PCI slot on the user’s personal computer. This device does not require any accessories for operation.

This device can be used with software called NI-FBUS Communications Manager, which is compatible with Windows servers and other OPC 2.0-compliant servers. Thus, anyone without in-depth knowledge of Fieldbus protocols can work with the NI PCI-FBUS. Moreover, this software can be used in DCS and HMI applications for data collection and control on the Fieldbus. This device utilizes a standard DB-9 type male D-SUB connector to attach and communicate to the Fieldbus network.

In a typical operating environment, the NI PCI-FBUS Fieldbus Interface Device consumes 820 mA of power. This Fieldbus Interface Device is fully compatible with all FBUS related software utilities including the NI-FBUS Monitor and NI-FBUS Configurator.  With this model, the user can achieve a transformer-isolated Fieldbus Connection.

PCI-FBUS Obsolete Status has been declared by National Instruments, but the device will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
