National Instruments PXI-8214 PXI SCSI Interface Module

The National Instruments PXI-8214 is a PXI SCSI Interface Module. This module offers an Ultra2 SCSI interface to CompactPCI (cPCI) or PXI. The PXI-8214 is a single-ended/16-bit low voltage SCI solution that can be used to bond a maximum of 15 SCSI devices with up to 40 MegaTransfer  (MT)/s (80 Mbytes/s) data transfer rates. This model is an ideal solution for PXI/cPCI based systems where true continuous disk operation and true high-speed is required.

The National Instruments PXI-8214 comes equipped with an LSI53C895A PXI-to-Ultra2 SCSI controller. The PXI/cPCI interface incorporated in this model supports up to 133 Mbytes/s bursts at 33 MHz, as well as a 32-bit DMA bus master. The SCSI Interface included in this module provides SE and 16-bit LVD signaling and has a high-density, 68-pin connector. This module comes equipped with an onboard flash ROM for the storage of SCSI BIOS and an SCSI bus activity LED is also provided. With the NI PXI 8214, the user will be able to utilize a 25 m long cable for point-to-point connections.

This module features two connectors P1 and J1. The P1 connector is a cPCI backplane connector, whereas the J1 connector is a 68-contact SCSI device connector. When used in Microsoft Windows XP environment, the NI PXI-8214 installs automatically with the correct driver and the user can ensure its installation through the Device Manager. This interface weighs around 0.13 kg, has physical dimensions of 10.0 by 16.0 cm, and requires one peripheral slot for deployment.

PXI-8214 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
