National Instruments PXI-8310 Interface Module
The National Instruments PXI-8310 (Part Number: 779541-01) is an Interface Controller Module. It is an essential part of the NI CardBus-8310-to-PXI interface kit that provides the user with direct control of PXI systems through their laptop computer. The CardBus-to-PXI link remains transparent to drivers and software applications to allow laptop computers to control PX systems. The NI PXI 8310 interface kit is an ideal solution to be used with portable systems. The user can also pair it with a compatible DC-powered chassis to achieve mobile solutions for various applications, such as in-vehicle data logging and analysis.
The PXI 8310 module is used in slot 1 of a PXI chassis and is connected to an NI CardBus-8310 card installed in the laptop computer via cabling. To make a complete link between the NI CardBus and PXI-8310, the user will need a pair of CAT-e cables: one to transmit and one to receive data. These cables are available in 3m, 10m, and 14m lengths from National Instruments. The NI PXI-8310 expansion card comes with two ports (L0 and L1) for communications and each utilizes four twisted pair connections.
To keep the user informed about the status of twisted pairs, front panel LEDs representing independent twisted pairs are provided on the front panel. The corresponding LED will light up if a twisted pair link goes up. The National Instruments PXI-8310 is a 1-slot 3U size PXI module, which requires one system controller slot for use. This module conforms to PXI Hardware Specs 2.1.
PXI-8310 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
