National Instruments PXI-8461/D DeviceNet Interface Module

Featured with a High-Performance Intel 80386EX microprocessor, the National Instruments PXI-8461/D (Part Number: 777709-01) is a DeviceNet Interface Module that includes a 1-port CAN hardware interface. This kit is offered with the NI-DNET software, which provides an API for complete access to any DeviceNet network. By design, the NI PXI-8461/D is a 3U size module, fully compatible with the CompactPCI industrial computer standard and the PXI modular instrumentation. This kit does not require interface cables since it comes with standard Combicon-style pluggable screw terminals for network connections.

The National Instruments PXI-8461/D is considered an ideal choice for PC-based control systems, embedded control systems, DeviceNet network management utilities, and for the prototyping of the DeviceNet Systems. This kit is fully compatible with all standard programming standards, such as Borland C/C++, Microsoft C/C++, Microsoft Visual Basic, LabWindows/CV, Lookout, etc. The 80386EX processor incorporated in this model offers an efficient operating environment for processing the DeviceNet protocol communications stack. For optimal reliability, this model is developed on Allen-Bradley’s Master Toolkit and is fully compatible with Allen Bradley winDNBT-16 architecture.

The software provided with the NI PXI-8461/D includes protocol firmware that works on the embedded 80386EX microprocessor, as well as the device drivers that professionals use for applications development. This CAN device handles information on the interface device directly. The NI CAN interfaces are designed in accordance with all DeviceNet specifications related to the physical layer, including bus-powered transceivers and 500 V optical isolation. The NI PXI-8461/D has a shared memory where 80386EX of the CAN interface stores the I/O variables of the networked devices.
