National Instruments ISC-1722 Smart Camera

The ISC-1722 (Part Number: 780146-01) is a monochrome Smart Camera designed and manufactured by National Instruments. The NI ISC-1722 Smart Camera belongs to the NI-17xx Smart Camera Series. The NI-17xx Smart Cameras Series is used for real-time embedded vision. All the NI-17xx Smart Cameras contain high quality image sensors and high-performance processors. These cameras are being used in variety of industries for code reading, part location, defect detection, and assembly verification. All Smart Cameras from NI offer many features like built-in I/O, web servers, and multiple industrial protocols.

The ISC-1722 is a low-cost smart camera. The NI ISC-1722 provides real time machine vision. The ISC-1722 is powered by a 400 MHz PowerPC Processor. The ISC-1722 contains 1/3-inch Sony ICX424ALCCD monochrome image sensor in combination with an onboard processor. The ISC-1722 also features a 640 x 480 pixel VGA CCD image sensor, from which it can acquire images up to 60 fps. Almost all the NI smart cameras contain a direct drive lighting controller for an easily distributed and all-in-one vision system, but the ISC-1722 is an exception.

For direct connectivity with external industrial devices, all NI Smart Cameras offer optically isolated digital I/O lines. The ISC-1722 also offers two optically isolated digital inputs and two optically isolated digital outputs. The ISC-1722 includes two gigabit Ethernet ports for simplified Ethernet-based communication. To synchronize with a third-party lighting controller, an RS232 serial port, 5 and 24 V lighting strobe outputs have been incorporated in the ISC-1722. All the NI smart cameras include quadrature encoder support except for the ISC-1722. Two options are provided by NI for configuring the NI 17xx Smart Cameras. One option is Vision Builder for Automated Inspection and the other is NI Vision Acquisition Software.

ISC-1722 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Smart Camera will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
