National Instruments SWB-2815 Matrix Module for SwitchBlock

The SWB-2815 (Part Numbers: 781421-15 and 781420-15) is a 0.3 A reed relay Matrix Module from National Instruments. The relays incorporated in this module have Ruthenium contacts and are tested to withstand around 2.5 x 10 to the 8th cycles. This Matrix Module can drive as many as 61 relays simultaneously. The NI SWB-2815 allows a maximum switching voltage of 100 VDC and a maximum switching current of 0.25 A per channel. You can achieve up to 3 watts of maximum switching power per channel or per crosspoint through this device. 

It is important to understand that the NI SWB-2815 is just a card and not an independently operable switch device. You cannot use this device for switching applications without mounting it on a carrier device sold separately. For this module, you need the NI-2800, a PXI based matrix module carrier. The NI-2800 comes with six slots; each slot can carry a different matrix module. This module requires four PXI slots for its development. Thus, you can create a completely customized system with the help of this module and the NI-2800 carrier. 

The NI SWB-2815 is designed to support a 4 x 86 matrix, 1-wire configuration. However, you can achieve more configurations by using 2 SWB-2815 Matrix Modules or by using this module with another type of SwitchBlock module. Thus, the SWB-2815 is a vital component used in NI SwitchBlock systems. This device is a Category I device, designed to carry signal voltages under 100 VDC or 70 Vrms and tested to withstand up to 500 V surge voltages.
