National Instruments SWB-2817 Matrix Module for SwitchBlock

The SWB-2817 is a relay Matrix Module for SwitchBlock systems manufactured by National Instruments. The NI SWB-2817 Matrix Module is available with two different part numbers: 781420-17 and 781421-17. The only difference is that part number 781420-17 has row access, while the second version of the module does not. The SWB-2817 module is primarily manufactured for high-power applications. 

The SWB-2817 Matrix Module is designed with 16 rows and 22 columns (16x22) in a 1-wire matrix configuration. In addition to the NI SWB-2817 module’s application as an individual module, it features the provision of expansion in both single carrier and single PXI chassis configurations. In a single carrier configuration, the size is expandable up to 16x132, while it can be expanded up to 16x528 in the latter case. The use of the SWB-2817 module makes the wiring simple, thereby making the amendments in the system’s interconnections easier and more flexible. The applications of the NI SWB-2817 Matrix Module include the signal-routing from power random waveform generators, digital oscilloscopes, and multimeters to the testing units. 

The SWB-2817 Matrix Module is a single slot module with 5 MHz bandwidth capability. The NI SWB-2817 can be connected to a maximum switching voltage of 100 VDC or 70 VAC between the row and column. The SWB-2817 module has a simultaneous maximum drive limit of 61 relays. The relay operating/releasing time is < 1 ms for up to 8 relays, while the relay operating time is < 2ms for relays up to 50. The maximum value of switching and carry current that can be connected to the SWB-2817 Matrix Module is 250 mA and 300 mA, respectively. The SWB-2817 has a maximum switching power consumption of 3 W.
