National Instruments USB-TC01 Temperature Input Device

The NI USB–TC01 (Part Numbers: 781314-01, 781314-02, and 781314-03) is a Temperature Input Device, which offers a Full-Speed USB Interface for one thermocouple channel. This device comes with InstantDAQ technology, which has built-in software for looking at and recording information that loads automatically when the device is plugged in. Thus, the user can take instantaneous temperature readings with their PC. This Temperature Input Device can be connected to any USB port. With this device, the user can utilize their PC as a display device for real-time data monitoring. Additionally, the user can utilize NI LabVIEW to customize the Temperature Logger source code. The NIDAQmx driver software and LabVIEW can be used in building custom software for the NI device.

This device is fully compatible with B, R, S, T, J, K, E, and N thermocouples. The typical subminiature thermocouple connector ensures it is simple to swap out varying thermocouples. The USB–TC01 National Instruments offers 20 bits ADC resolution and has an input range of ±73.125 mV. This device provides a maximum sample rate of 4 S/s. The cold-junction compensation sensor of this device offers up to 0.6 °C typical and 1.25 °C maximum accuracy. For overvoltage protection, integrated protection circuitry is also provided that is set to actuate at 30 V maximum between TC+ and TC-.

The NI USB-TC01 Thermocouple Measurement Device can be used with a 2 m USB cable. Since it is a USB powered device, the NI USB TC01 Temperature Logger does not require an additional external power source. While operating, this device consumes 150 mA current from USB and draws 2.5 mA of current in suspend mode.

The NI device weighs 4.1 oz, and measures 2.463 x 1.500 x 0.800 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 °C to 55 °C and -40 °C to 85 °C respectively, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10% to 90% and 5% to 95% respectively. The USB–TC01 is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1.
