National Instruments UMI-7764 Universal Motion Interface
The UMI 7764 (Part Number: 777978-02) has the capability to connect the NI-735x/734x/733x Motion Controllers to third-party power drives with the SH68-C68-S Cable. The cable length sizes available are 0.5 m, 1 m, or 2 m. The UMI 7764 Motion Controller can additionally be used with a brushless servo drive like the AKD-P00606. When the interface is used with the AKD-P00606, it requires a 2.5 m access to drive AKD cable (Part Number: 781527-01). The NI UMI-7764 also requires a +5 V Power Supply, such as the NI PS-6 (Part Number: 780577-01). Another product that can be used with this interface is the SCB-68 for digital I/O connection.
The UMI-7764 has a host bus monitor power interlock that automatically deactivates the drive if the host computer turns off or the interface cable is detached. The UMI 7764 National Instruments is a 4-axis Universal Motion Interface with screw terminal connectors. Its motion/axis types are: brushed servo, brushless servo, P-Command servo stepper. This interface has signal pass-through compatibility and quadrature (with quadrature encoder rates of 1 to 20 MHz), incremental inputs. The UMI-7764 is best for laboratory and industrial applications.
Every axis linked to the NI UMI-7764 Universal Motion Interface has a motion I/O terminal block to which these signals are wired: distributed power connections, amplifier/drive connections, limit switch connections, and encoder connections. Every axis has five terminals for drive connections: Dir (CCW), Analog Output, Step (CW), Analog Output Ground, and Inhibit Output. The NI-733x Motion Controllers do not have Analog Output or Analog Output Ground signals.
The device has a 62-pin D-SUB I/O connector, a SCD-C68-S cable with 68-pin VHDCI offset male connectors (and is used in connecting the digital I/O connector to the NI SCB-68. The UMI-7764 operates on the NI motion software which requires the presence of an Application Environment such as LabVIEW). The device is compatible with the NI 735x, 734x, 733x motion controllers. The device has the dimensions 7.7 x 6.0 x 1.8 inches.
UMI-7764 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Universal Motion Interface will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
