National Instruments UMI-Flex6 Universal Motion Interface Accessory 

The National Instruments UMI-Flex6 is a Universal Motion Interface (UMI) Accessory designed to connect to the National Instruments 100-pin FlexMotion controllers with an SH-Flex-100 cable. This UMI Accessory provides you with all the accessories required for easy installation and configuration of your independent or simultaneous motion control boards. The NI UMI-Flex6 supports motion boards designed to provide controlling of up to six axes.

This UMI Accessory is an ideal solution for laboratory and industrial applications because it can accommodate power supplies, stepper drivers, servo amplifiers, limit switches, motors, and encoders. You can connect multiple accessories to your NI motion control board using the NI UMI-Flex6. This accessory features a separate screw terminal block per axes for limit switches encoders and amplifiers.

The NI UMI-Flex6 UMI Accessory features a power interlock that deactivates after losing signal from the host computer. This power interlock is an inherent and undefeatable safety provision that can prevent your expensive equipment from damage in the event of a control system failure. This UMI Accessory is offered in a metallic shell with rubber feet. However, you can also acquire a DIN-rail mounting kit separately from National Instruments. This accessory offers two 6-position terminal blocks for analog input wiring. Each terminal block can be used to access four out of eight analog input channels available on the FlexMotion boards. Each axis on the UMI-Flex6 has a dedicated, 5-position terminal block for driver or amplifier wiring.

UMI-Flex6 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Universal Motion Interface Accessory will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
