National Instruments USB-6003 Multifunction I/O Device  

The USB-6003 (Part Numbers: 782608-01 and 782609-01) is a Multifunction I/O Device from National Instruments. Designed for a wide range of input and output functions, the NI USB-6003 is an excellent choice for both portable applications and convenient data logging. This multifunction I/O device is built with 8 single-ended analog input channels which can be easily configured into 4 differential channels, depending on the needs of the user. There are also two analog outputs featured on the device, boasting 16 bits of DAC resolution. In addition, the USB-6003 comes equipped for diverse connectivity with 13 Digital I/O lines. These lines are divided into 8 lines sourced from Port 0, 4 lines sourced from Port 1, and 1 line sourced from Port 2. A USB Micro-B receptacle connector type is used for I/O connections.

The difference between the two part numbers of the NI USB-6003 is that part number 782608-01 is the standard version of the device, while part number 782609-01 is the OEM board only version without an enclosure. In terms of power, the USB-6003 Multifunction I/O Device safeguards test systems from damage with 200 mA of overcurrent protection and ±20 V of overvoltage protection. The power source of the I/O Device offers +5 V of output voltage at ±3%, with a maximum current of 150 mA and a short circuit current of 50 mA. 

The bus of the NI USB-6003 is designed as a USB full speed bus with a speed of 12 Mb/s. With a timebase accuracy of ±100 ppm, the device offers incredibly accurate sampling for both analog input and analog output. The timebase of the I/O device has a frequency of 80 MHz and a resolution of 12.5 ns. 

The NI USB-6003 weighs 105 g (3.70 oz) with the screw terminal plugs added and 83 g (2.93 oz) when they are not used. With the plugs, the dimensions of the multifunction I/O device measure 93.2 mm × 86.2 mm × 23.6 mm, (3.67 in. × 3.40 in. × 0.93 in.), while the measurements are 75.4 mm × 86.2 mm × 23.6 mm, (2.97 in. × 3.40 in. × 0.93 in.) without them.
