National Instruments VME-MXI VMEbus Board      

The VME-MXI is an MXI bus interface. National Instruments produced the VME-MXI module. The NI VME-MXI board is presented with the part number 180960-01. The NI VME-MXI interface board comes with only one slot. The VME-MXI is a 6U board that interfaces the VMEbus to the MXIbus. A VMEbus mainframe used with the NI VME-MXI can be linked to other MXIbus instruments, including other VMEbus mainframes, MXIbus-equipped PCs, or MXIbus instruments.

The NI VME-MXI VMEbus Board utilizes address mapping to translate bus cycles on the VMEbus to the MXIbus and the other way around. The VME-MXI Interface Module can be purchased with an optional Interrupt and Timing Extension (INTX) daughter card. The INTX daughter card plugs into the two daughter card connectors on the NI VME-MXI.

This VMEbus Board can be inserted into any 6U slot in a VMEbus chassis, or in any slot excluding Slot 0 of a B-size, C-Size, or D-Size VXIbus mainframe. The National Instruments VME-MXI has a VXIbus extended class Register-Based register set, ensuring the VME-MXI is compatible with the VXIbus specification, Revision 1.4. There are four address windows on this VMEbus Board that map bus cycles into and out of the VMEbus chassis. The four address windows (A32, A16, and A24) represent the three VMEbus address spaces. There is also a window for mapping the VXIbus/MXIbus configuration space.

VME-MXI Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the board will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
