National Instruments VXI-1500 VXI Mainframe      

The VXI-1500 is a VXI Mainframe produced by National Instruments. The NI VXI-1500 contains a backplane with 13 slots and a high-output power supply. The VXI-1500 is made with a structural design that renders optimization tools for maximum use in multiple applications. The VXI-1500 Mainframe is compatible with the VXIbus Specification Revision 1.4.

This VXI Mainframe has a low mean time to repair (MTTR), since it has a high level of maintainability. The NI VXI-1500 is built with 13 C-sized VXIbus slots. The VXIbus slots can also fit A-sized and B-sized modules if adapters are used. The NI VXI-1500 is designed without backplane jumpers. The VXI-1500 uses 1100 W of heat dissipation through filtered forced-air cooling. This VXI Mainframe has 1100 W (115 VAC input) or 1420 W (230 VAC input) power.

The NI VXI-1500 is manufactured with universal AC input, which means the mainframe can utilize auto-voltage as well as auto-frequency ranging. The NI VXI-1500 has overcurrent protection through push-reset circuit breakers. The VXI-1500 is equipped with a removable power supply with a MTBF of 50,000 hours. There is a remote power monitoring and inhibit through a back-panel connector as well. An On/Off switch on the front panel allows for simple access and is recessed to stop accidental switching. This VXI Mainframe has two configuration options; it can be rackmounted or installed on a bench.

VXI-1500 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the mainframe will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
