National Instruments VXI-1501 Mainframe

The VXI-1501 Mainframe is developed and designed by National Instruments. The VXI-1501 mainframe has 13 slots for different types of modules. The Mainframe has a reversible base, which can be mounted on each position on the rack. This Mainframe is fully compatible with the VXI family. The NI VXI-1501 Mainframe has a reliable power supply, which can be operated on any standard line voltages, i.e. 110 V_AC or 220V_AC. The National Instruments VXI-1501 can be operated from a 400 Hz frequency AC line or DC line.  

Variable speed fans are installed in the mainframe to cool down the power supply module, as well as the mainframe modules. Two types of fan modes are helpful for meeting the cooling requirements of the mainframe. The VXI-1501 has seven types of supply voltages, which are all electrically protected, such as overvoltage, overcurrent, and thermally protected.

The maximum power utilized by the NI VXI-1501 Mainframe is 1690 W at 25° C and 1488 W at 55° C. The Mainframe can supply sufficient air flow to the 13 slots to cool down 60 W across the dense module, maintaining 10° C rise at the most. VXI facilitates easy maintenance by providing easily removable parts for replacing without dismantling from the rack. A 25-pin port is installed at the rear side of the mainframe to facilitate the monitoring of the auxiliary power supply.

VXI-1501 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the mainframe will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
