National Instruments VXI-USB USB Remote Controller for VXI

The VXI-USB (Part Number: 779163-01) is a USB Remote Controller designed for VXI. The VXI-USB was created by National Instruments. The VXI-USB has been designed to provide an interface link between VXIbus and a desktop or notebook computer. The VXI-USB connector uses a USB port to interlink a computer with VXIbus. This USB Remote Controller is a single-slot C-size controller. When a computer connected to VXIbus uses the VXI-USB controller, it operates as if it is directly plugged into a VXI backplane. This feature makes it capable of operating as an embedded controller.

The National Instruments VXI-USB USB Remote Controller uses USB 2.0 technology instead of IEEE 1394/GPIB-to-VXI interfaces. Therefore, the VXI-USB controller is superior to previous controllers that used IEEE 1394 or a GPIB interface to link VXIbus with a computer. The NI VXI-USB offers a much higher data transfer speed. The maximum data transfer rate of the VXI-USB controller is up to 32MB/sec over the USB link. Another important feature of the VXI-USB is its hot plug-in capability. This feature is useful as you don’t need to shut down your system to add or configure USB devices into your PC.

This USB Remote Controller can be installed on Windows XP/Vista /2000 operating systems. The NI VXI-USB is compatible with NI-VXI and NI-VISA driver software. These software types make it compatible with VXI Plug-and-Play System Alliance specifications.

VXI-USB Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the USB Remote Controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
