National Instruments VXIpc-871 Embedded VXI Computer

The VXIpc-871 from National Instruments is an Embedded VXI Computer from the VXIpc 870 Series. Designed to provide customized control of VXIbus systems, this C-size controller is compatible with the full range of VXI specification. The VXIpc-871 combines the architecture of an x86 processor with the features of a PCI bus and an advanced graphics port, offering versatile functionality in a single convenient device. Equipped with an internal CD-ROM drive, this VXI controller allows the user to have direct control over the VXI interrupts, triggers, memory, and registers- maximizing the capabilities of the VXI backplane.

The user-friendly platform of the VXIpc-871 can be easily installed into a VXI mainframe with 2 C-size slots. The device features an IEEE 488.2 interface that is compatible with NI-488.2 architecture, as well as with bus interface software including NI-VISA and NI-VXI. Capable of connecting to ethernet, the Plug & Play VXIpc-871 controller is also fully compatible with application software tools such as LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI. 64 KB of VXIbus configuration space are required for the device to achieve optimal functionality.

Physically, the VXIpc-871 computer is fully enclosed and shielded. The 64 MB of DRAM installed, the device weighs 2.5 Kg (5.51 lb.). The physical dimensions measure 233.35 x 340 mm (9.187 x 13.386 in.). The operating temperature range of the VXI controller spans from 0 to 50 °C, paired with a noncondensing relative humidity of 10 to 90%. When in storage, the VXIpc-871 can safely handle temperatures ranging from –20 to 70 °C, with a relative humidity ranging from 5 to 95% (also noncondensing).
