National Instruments VXIpc-872/700 Embedded Computer

The National Instruments VXIpc-872/700 (Part Numbers: 778341-712, 778341-012, 778341-013, 778341-011) is an Embedded, VXIbus Controller. This Embedded Computer is considered a low-cost solution for various VXI system applications. The NI VXIpc-872/700 has all the required resources to operate in the capacity of a system controller.  This modular computer comes equipped with a dedicated advanced graphics port (AGP) for SVGA connection. Moreover, the 100 MHz processor chipset based incorporated in this device also provides USB ports, anISA bus, and Ultra DMA 33 enhanced IDE.

The NI VXIpc-872/700 is an Intel Slot 1 architecture-based device and has a modular CPU design. The L2 cache and CPU are housed in Slot 1. In this configuration, the GTL+ slot 1 bus is used as a data highway between the CPU and the motherboard. This Embedded Computer can operate like any other desktop PC. The internal hard drive of this device is used for the installation of either a Windows or Linus operating system. The NI VXIpc-872/700 is designed as a double-width module that can be deployed in a C-size VXI mainframe.

This device comes with built-in Ethernet circuitry designed to function as a dual function PCI device. The Ethernet device offers a connection to wide ultra SCSI-3 and 10/100BaseTX Ethernet. For CMOS setting backup, a standard real-time clock is also incorporated in this module. Another valuable feature of this device is its programmable reset circuitry that can be programmed to reset the VXI backplane directly. Thus, rebooting the computer won’t be required.

VXIpc-872/700 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the embedded computer will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
