The state of the art timebase integrated into this instrument delivers equivalent time sweep speeds with 20 to 4000 points record and at a sample interval of 0.01 ps. Apart from this, the user can also lock these timebases to a 10 MHz reference to achieve higher stability on a long-term basis. This ability allows this oscilloscope to sync with other test devices, along with the device under test.

This model offers two windows for magnification as well, whereby it can also re-acquire sections of the main trace at a higher resolution for better analysis and closer examination. The Tektronix TDS8000 has a multi-processor structure with dedicated processors for each channel. This arrangement guarantees the highest rates of waveform acquisition, regardless of the total number of channels being used for the acquisition or waveform processing.
