National Instruments TB-9214 Temperature Input Module Terminal Block

The TB-9214 (part number: 781511-01) from National Instruments is a temperature input module terminal block made for use with the NI-9214 C Series Temperature Input Module. By connecting the TB-9214 to the front connectors of the NI-9214, you can connect the signals of the module within different CompactRIO or CompactDAQ systems. When connecting the TB-9124, it is important to avoid overtightening the jackscrews, as this may lead to complications. These screws have a maximum torque of 0.4 N·m (3.6 lb·in.)

To maintain accuracy and minimize thermal gradients near the front connector, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Opt for Small-Gauge Thermocouple Wire: Using small-gauge thermocouple wire significantly reduces heat transfer to or from the terminal junction. This step is crucial in achieving accurate readings.

Keep Thermocouple Wiring Together: To ensure consistent temperatures, it is advisable to run thermocouple wiring together in close proximity to the TB-9214. This practice helps maintain uniformity and accuracy in measurements.

Leverage the Foam Pad: If available, utilize the foam pad provided in the TB-9214 opening. This helps restrict airflow around the terminals, further minimizing thermal gradients and enhancing system accuracy.

The TB-9214 is available to be calibrated. While the recommended calibration period for individual parts varies, most parts should be calibrated either annually or every two years to ensure accuracy.
